From Maryland/Washington DC Area

From the Capital Beltway (495), exit on route 66 west.

Travel to the end of route 66. Exit onto route 81 south towards Roanoke.

Just south of Harrisonburg, take Exit # 240 (route 257) west to Bridgewater.

Turn right at the end of the ramp towards Bridgewater. Travel 3.2 miles until the road dead-ends.

Turn left at the light onto route 42 south.

Travel on route 42 south until it dead ends in Churchville.

Turn right on route 250 west towards McDowell. You will go over 3 mountains (Shenandoah, Shaws Ridge and Bull Pasture) which are very steep and curvy.

★ Go into the town of McDowell.

Turn right on Doe Hill Rd. (route 654) towards Doe Hill and travel 4.4 miles. Turn right on Keister Hollow Rd. (route 618) and travel to the end of the road. It is a gravel and dirt road. There is a big, white barn and a silo that sits on the right side of the road just before Keister Hollow Rd. (route 618).  At the end of the road, go straight thru the entrance (orange metal gate), onto the ranch. Follow the road up to the ranch.

*** Bull Pasture Mountain Ranch is about a 3-½ hours drive from the Washington Metropolitan area.

From Maryland/Washington DC area
(alternate route - a little longer, fewer mountains, easier if
you are pulling a trailer)

From the Capital Beltway (495), exit on route 66 West.

Travel to the end of route 66.Exit onto route 81 south towards Roanoke.

Take the VA-55 exit, EXIT 296, toward US-48 / Strasburg.

Take the VA-55 W ramp toward US-48 W / Wardensville W VA. If you reach US-48 you've gone a little too far

Turn right onto John Marshall Hwy / US-48 / VA-55. Continue to follow VA-55 (Crossing into West Virginia).

VA-55 becomes US-48 W / WV-55 W.

Take the ramp toward East Moorefield.

Turn left onto Old WV-55. Old WV-55 becomes WV-55 / Winchester Ave.

In Moorefield, turn left onto US-220 / S Main St / WV-28 / WV-55. Continue to follow US-220 / WV-28 / WV-55.

In Petersburg, turn left onto US-220 / Main St. Continue to follow US-220. US-220 is just past S Grove St. If you are on Water St and reach Mountain View Exit you've gone a little too far

In Franklin, US-220 becomes US-33 / Maple Ave. Stay straight to go onto US-220 / N Main St. Continue to follow US-220 (Crossing into Virginia).
 
In Monterey, turn left onto E Main St / US-250. Continue to follow US-250. US-250 is just past E Mill Alley. If you are on Jackson River Rd and reach Courthouse Lane you've gone a little too far.

Turn left on Doe Hill Rd. (route 654) towards Doe Hill and travel 4.4 miles.

Turn right on Keister Hollow Rd. (route 618) and travel to the end of the road. It is a gravel and dirt road. (route 618).  At the end of the road, go straight thru the entrance (orange metal gate), onto the ranch. Follow the road up to the ranch.

From Charlottesville/Richmond Area:

Take route I-64 west towards Staunton.
Merge onto route 262 West via EXIT 220 toward US-11/Staunton
Take the Churchville Ave. exit toward route 250
Turn left onto route 250/Churchville Ave. Continue to follow route 250 West for approximately 30 miles into McDowell
